The minor in Writing provides students with an opportunity to develop expertise in writing for academic, professional, civic, and personal purposes.
What Can I Do with this Minor?
No matter what profession you choose, writing will be a necessity. When asked, many employers list the ability to write well as the number one attribute they look for in employees. The Writing minor will prepare you to communicate with employers, colleagues, clients, family, and friends. By offering a number of different courses, the Writing minor gives students a chance to explore writing in several different fields, through both critical and creative outlets.
It provides practice in writing in a range of genres and styles as well as editing, publishing, and digital media. Students will experience a range of writing--from research papers to business proposals, magazine articles, and short stories. Along with developing writing skills, students in the minor will develop critical-thinking skills that will help them succeed as students and professionals.
